Today as a Ludlow wedding photographer I’m starting at a local hotel, Overton Grange. I have to say after being a Ludlow wedding photographer for several years now this is the first time I have ever visited. It’s such a shame that the weather today is forecast to rain, but hey, that doesn’t stop me from capturing great images of your day. Rather makes it more of a challenge to overcome our great British weather that we have become accustomed to. So Gemma and all of her bridesmaids and parents are staying at the hotel, with No 10 hairdressers from Ludlow doing all the girls hair and on this occasion the girls are doing their own make up with a little help from each other.
Gemma and James are getting married at Whitton church which is around the corner from not just the family farm but their home. The reception is being held in a marque on the farm next to fishing pools. I left Overton Grange and headed to Whitton church in time for some grooms men shots and guests arriving before the beautiful bride arrives. With all guests filling Whitton church to the rafters making the service feel even more special. After the service everyone gathered outside of the church for confetti shots, after James had a surprise for Gemma which was a rally car in which they went for a bit of a spin up the road, it was fun watching Gemma try and get into a rally prepared care with roll cage in what I can only describe as an almighty awesome wedding dress. Gemma, James and the family are really passionate about rally sport. From driving to training drivers and winning rally races and that’s not just James, apparently Gemma is a dab hand behind the wheel herself. Unfortunately by this time the heavens had opened so everyone hastily made their way to the marque with a free bar and a short visit from an ice cream van the guests were still in high spirits and still up for doing a group shot outside in a short break from the downpour.
Canapés and food are being served by Heather Hamer catering which is always a pleasure to work along side. All the guests by now are having a right good catch up and my favourite time to try and capture guests enjoying the reception. The time soon came around to introducing the happy couple and the speeches. Halfway through the meal the sun had decided to show itself so Gemma and James wanted to quickly pop back to church for some photos. Luckily the sunshine remained for the rest of the evening and I took the opportunity to redo some of the formal shots outside. All that remained was the cutting of the cake and the first dance and everyone can let their hair down and party.
