Walcot Hall wedding photographer
I always look forward to working as a Walcot Hall wedding photographer, the eclectic décor and luxurious touches make it an absolute dream to photograph. I love all things vibrant and vivid, and this unusual Georgian country house has plenty of interesting features and curiosities to get creative brains excited! Just a short drive from my home town, Walcot Hall is often named among the top wedding venues in England.
As a local, I’m always cycling or hiking through the area and thinking of new ideas for portraits as I pass (my cycling buddies probably think I’m a bit obsessed!). It’s one of those places that is perfectly suited to couples who are looking for something impressive and grand, with a sprinkling of unusual character too. It’s certainly memorable, that’s for sure! If you are getting married at Walcot Hall, I would love to join you and capture your day in my signature documentary style.
Weddings at Walcot Hall
The freestanding turquoise Ballroom, which was built in around 1800 is probably the most iconic room in the whole place. Surrounded by beautiful views, the vibrant walls of the ballroom provide a dramatic backdrop to weddings at Walcot Hall with up to 120 seated guests, or 200 in the evening. You can also get married in the Main Hall, under the ornate ceiling and marble columns – the floating staircase that sweeps into the hall creates a really magical start to your walk down the aisle.
There are plenty of options available for outdoor weddings at Walcot Hall too, including a licensed Summer House on the private lawn, or the Fountain Grotto. You’ve also got the full run of the grounds, without legal constraints, if you are opting for a humanist ceremony. The staff here are really flexible and friendly and always go the extra mile to make sure your wedding is just as unique as you are!
If you’ve set your heart on a church ceremony before your wedding reception at Walcot Hall, then just at the end of the main driveway is Lydbury North Church. There aren’t many places you get that much flexibility!
Walcot Hall grounds and gardens
The first thing you notice when you arrive at Walcot Hall is the impressive front of the building with its grand columns and sash windows. Take a look around you and you’ll see some of the most breath-taking views over Shropshire and beyond. It’d be a crime not to include these views in your Walcot Hall wedding photography, especially as the 30 acres of gardens look absolutely stunning all year round.
The lawns, lake and incredible arboretum provide endless opportunities for exploring, with unusual rustic and retro buildings hiding amongst the trees and flowers. As a Walcot Hall wedding photographer, one of the ‘must have’ shots for me is the old reconstructed chapel, in the middle of the woods. I like to take newlyweds on a little wander to find some interesting spots, and the chapel seems to catch everyone’s eye!
Getting ready at Walcot Hall
On the morning of your wedding the south facing bridal suite is where the action happens – from hairdressers and make up artists, to excited bridesmaids and friends preparing for the day ahead. The grand proportions of the room make it ideal for me to capture those moments as part of your Walcot Hall wedding photography, in my relaxed and natural style.
There’s a huge variety of on-site accommodation available for Walcot Hall weddings, and not just for the happy couple! Guests can arrive on the evening before your wedding, and enjoy the quirky and characterful self-catering holiday cottages and glamping for a two-night weekend break or a four-night midweek stay. It’s a great way to make the party last longer!
Walcot Hall wedding photography
I could talk about this place all day, but my favourite thing to do is explore with you and my camera on your wedding day, and see what magic we can find. Some of my favourite images from recent years have been ones I have captured as a Walcot Hall wedding photographer, and each time I visit I find something new. From the variety of textures and colours in the grounds, to the unusual colours and luxurious details of the interior décor – it gives me the chance to make your photos truly unique and memorable.
