Lyde Arundel | Cathy and Carwyn engagement shoot

Cathy & Carwyn get married in a few months time at Lyde Arundel in Herefordshire. For their engagement shoot, however, I headed over and met them in Hereford for the start of our drive into the Welsh Valleys where Carwyn grew up.  We headed to Skirrid Fawr standing alone on the edge of the Black Mountains in Monmouthshire. We parked at the lay-by on the Abergavenny to Skenfrith road which is the main access point onto the hill. From here, the path winds steeply up through Pant Skirrid Wood and out onto the ridge, with gentler slopes leading up to the summit. On our way up we stopped for some pictures in the Pant Skirrid woods, I have to say we had a stunning day for a nice steady paced walk but boy it was windy at the top and a challenge with the sun being so bright. But the views when we finally reached the trig point was well worth it, a crystal clear day and we could see for miles!

Now Carwyn is a real keen photographer so of course he brought his camera along, I don’t think Cathy got too bored with us talking about cameras all day!

Overall we had a fantastic day, we got to hang out, chat about films and of course photography and made some great photos along the way.

Not a bad day’s work really…. Oh and of course stopping for a pub lunch!
