FAQs

Can we meet you before we book?

Yes of course, To experience what my albums look and feel like first hand. I highly recommend we schedule a meeting. This also gives us a chance to break the ice and get to know each other. The meetings are relaxed and informal (no pressure selling, that’s not my style), and usually last around 1 hour. You can call me or email me using the details found below to set up a time that works for us both.

How do we book you for our wedding ?

I require a £300 non-refundable deposit to secure your wedding date, with the remaining balance due 4 weeks before the big day.

Do you have insurance?

Yes I am fully insured. I have professional indemnity insurance along with public liability insurance.

We don’t like having our picture taken. How do you deal with this?

First of all don’t worry! You would be surprised at how many people ask this question. This is one of the reasons why I offer a engagement shoot as an added extra. This lets us get to know each other better, and means that when the day comes you will be both relaxed and know how I work.

What if we don’t want an engagement shoot?

I offer a FREE  complimentary mid week engagement shoot if you add any wedding album to your package at time of booking. Otherwise an additional fee is charged.  It’s a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera and to feel more relaxed with me. But theirs not an obligational to have one if you prefer.  I highly recommended to have one.

How long before we can see the photos?

I aim to have all edited and retouched images available for viewing in your client area of the website between 14 – 28  days of the wedding. You can expect around 300 – 500 final images for you to view.

Do you take formal shots?

Yes I’m happy to take group, family shots with the bride and groom. But I ask that your Best man/Bridesmaid/Usher or family friend help organise everyone together for these shots. I do however like to keep these type of shots toa maximum of 10 as they can be time consuming to arrange and I would rather be doing what I enjoy and see you and your guests enjoying your day rather than standing in rows and getting bored.

Who owns the copyright / image rights?

By law the photographer retains the copyright of every image they capture. However a hi res disk containing all final images is included in the package. The images are yours to print for personal use, email, send to your friends etc. In fact any activity that is not commercial (i.e. selling an image for advertising, stock sites etc.). I retain the right to use the images for advertising and promotion of  Cloud9 Wedding Photography and for any commercial opportunities.

Do I get all of the images on disc/ USB from my wedding?

Yes, all images from the day that I feel are of my best standard and quality will be on your wedding disc / USB, professionally edited to a high standard and without a watermark so you can print for family use only.

What will you be wearing?

For weddings I usually wear  smart casual clothing. As a photographer some times a suit can be impractical as I need to get down and dirty to get the best shots. But I always like to look smart on your big day.

Do we need to make eating arrangements for you?

I would appreciate a hot meal or bar snack when you have yours, of course I don’t wish to sit with your guests. But somewhere close by so I can see what’s going on so I’m ready to take pictures of the speeches. I do not take photo’s during the wedding breakfast as pictures of people eating aren’t particularly flattering.

What If we have to postpone our wedding?

If I’m still available on that date then I can re-schedule the date for you. The £300 deposit is non refundable, if the wedding is cancelled I have T&C in the wedding contract.

Can you photograph the ceremony?

Whether I can photograph your ceremony really depends upon the permission of those officiating the event and this varies widely.

From experience I find it depends on individual Registrars and Vicars, some are happy to let me photograph the service from the front so I can capture the service of you both close up or I may have to go to the back and capture the service from a distance. I’ve never had any problems with other religions where photography is encouraged.  it’s always best to check with who is officiating your event and express that this is an important part of your day and you want your photographer to be in the best spot.

How long do you need to shoot our photos on the wedding day?

We will need to chat about this, I normally sit down with you both on the day of your engagement shoot and go through your wedding day schedule to arrange times for formal shots and bride and groom shoot etc..  Most brides do not take into consideration the time that the photographer needs to take your wedding pictures between the end of the ceremony and beginning of the reception. Your day and your wedding photography will be much more relaxed and memorable if you space things out to allow yourself to enjoy every aspect of your day, including your unrushed photo shoot.

Do  you  allow other people to take photographs while you are working?

For the most part, there is no problem with friends and relatives taking photographs while I’m working.  This is with the exception of your arranged time for your private shoot (bride and groom only).  All that I ask is that any friends or relatives respect the fact that you have hired me to photograph your big day.

What shooting style do you use for weddings?

I use a combination of shooting styles mainly photo journalistic capturing those natural shots of guests enjoying the day, with the more traditional posed formal photographs after the service and then onto some bride and groom portraits where I try to get creative shots.

How many photographs will you take?

It’s  impossible  to  say  how  many  photographs  we  will  take.   The longer we are there, obviously the more photographs we will be taking.  After the process of editing out some of the blinkers and ones we think are not up to scratch and keeping the best ones for you it is still hard to know how many there will be. Each wedding is unique.

How long will it take after the wedding to see our wedding photographs?

All of your photographs are individually edited by myself. This can be a time consuming process, my time scale for this is on average 8 – 12 weeks.

How far are you willing to travel?

Of course! I love shooting weddings in new locations in and around the UK and even overseas. However, If I need to travel more than 2 hours drive from SY8 1UJ I would ask if you could cover accommodation. So I’m sure to be with you fresh and early on your big day!

If there are any more questions you need to ask about my service please don’t hesitate to contact me.
